Add a Creative

From the Creative panel, you can add new creatives to the DSP.

1. Set up the creative.

  1. On the Creative panel, click Add.
  2. Select the type of creative you want to add:
    • Ad Tag:  An ad tag is a piece of HTML code that shows an ad, generally using a third-party ad server. You might receive the code from an agency or generate it yourself using a tool provided by the ad server. See Uploading New Ad Tags.
    • Expandable Ad Tag: An ad tag that expands when the user interacts with it.
    • HTML5: An HTML5 ad uploaded to the DSP. HTML5 files must meet the IAB standards for HTML5, which are defined in HTML5 for Digital Advertising v2.0. If your HTML5 creative is hosted on another server, create the ad by uploading an ad tag. There are no special steps for configuring ad tags for HTML5 ads. See Uploading_HTML5_Creatives.
    • Image: An image ("banner ad") hosted by the DSP.
    • MRAID Ad Tag: Mobile Rich Media Ad Interface Definitions (MRAID), the IAB standard API for mobile rich media ads. See Uploading_New_Ad_Tags.
    • Vast: VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) is the IAB's standard for communicating the details of video ad serving. This standard handles the display of ads in, on, or around a video player. See Uploading_VAST_Tags.
    • Video: A video that will be hosted on the DSP. See Uploading Videos.
    • Bulk Ad Tag: A collection of ad tags stored in a single TXT file. See Uploading New Ad Tags.
    • Bulk Image: A collection of images stored in a single .ZIP file.

2. Configure the ad.

Set up your creative on the Configure Ad tab of the Create Ad dialog.

Ad Name

The name of the creative. It's best to use a name that you'll be able to recognize when you have many creatives in the DSP.

Destination URL

The landing page, which the ad clicks through to. This URL often points to an intermediate tacking server, which in turn sends the user to the landing page.

Impression Tracking URL

If you are using a third party impression tracker, you can input the URL used to track impressions for the ad. Even if you leave this field blank, the DSP will automatically track impressions for you. Third-party impression trackers allow you to track impressions in another platform. For example, your client may require an independent count of impressions by their own tracking software.

Attach a file

Select the image you are uploading. Be sure it adheres to our ad specifications.

Click Save to save the configuration and test the creative.

3. Test the ad.

Testing your ad is a vital step to be sure the ad behaves as expected and clicks through to the right destination. For ad tags, testing also makes sure that the DSP tracks user clicks.

To open the ad in a browser window, click View full image.

Click Tracking

Clicks since yesterday shows the number of preview page clicks for the creative. To test your ad's click tracking, click the preview ad and be sure the Clicks since yesterday reflects each of your clicks.

For some unusual ad types it may be necessary to click Refresh clicks to see it increment.

See Preview a Creative for details.
